The Dallara DW12 made its official debut in iRacing as part of the service’s commitment to delivering authentic IndyCar content. Named in memory of Dan Wheldon, the DW12 was introduced to real-world IndyCar competition in 2012 as the new-generation chassis, and it quickly became a defining car of the modern era.
iRacing’s release of the DW12 gave members access to the same chassis that powered the Verizon IndyCar Series for much of the 2010s. Designed by Dallara, the DW12 introduced major safety updates, enhanced aerodynamics, and a new platform that set the standard for open-wheel racing in America.
With its release, sim racers gained the opportunity to experience the thrill of high-speed oval racing at Indianapolis, Pocono, and Texas, as well as technical road and street circuits. The addition of the DW12 provided a complete representation of IndyCar racing, from superspeedway drafting battles to precision street course setups.
