Imola offers multiple configurations in iRacing, each emphasizing a different style of racing.
Grand Prix Circuit
The full 4.909 km layout is the definitive Imola experience, featuring every chicane, hairpin, and sector. Used for Formula One and endurance racing, it balances high-speed sections with technical challenges.
Moto Layout
Slightly altered for motorcycle racing, this variation softens some of the chicanes and adjusts corner geometry for safety. It provides an alternate flavor of Imola while retaining its flowing identity.
Historic Variants (when available)
In custom or legacy use, variations without the modern Tamburello chicane replicate the pre-1994 layout — incredibly fast but far more dangerous.
Racing Characteristics
- Overtaking: Limited mainly to Tosa and Rivazza — setup work and racecraft are critical.
- Slipstreaming: The long front straight creates drafting opportunities, especially in open-wheel cars.
- Setup balance: Requires both rotation for the chicanes and stability for high-speed sweepers.
- Physical challenge: Anti-clockwise nature and heavy curbing make it demanding over long stints.
Imola is a track where bravery meets precision. Its combination of chicanes, high-speed sections, and historical significance make it one of the most rewarding circuits to master in iRacing.
