New to Midgets? Start by simplifying your approach. The car dances on a knife’s edge, but with a stable baseline and calm inputs, it becomes a predictable, grippy weapon.
Baseline Setup Advice
- Run a moderate stagger so the car will rotate without snapping loose.
- Keep rear ride height slightly higher to add anti‑squat and forward drive.
- Use conservative shock splits: softer LR for traction, firmer RF for entry support.
Driving Technique
Lift early and light-brake to set yaw, then use maintenance throttle to hold angle. If the rear steps too far, lift smoothly—don’t stab the brake. On exit, unwind lock as you squeeze throttle; wheelspin overheats the RR and ruins the next few laps.
Racecraft
Expect constant slide‑jobs. Protect the diamond line by exiting low with strong drive. If you’re being slid, cross underneath rather than pinching the top—it preserves momentum and tire life.
Progression Plan
Run 20–30 lap stints in practice to learn surface evolution. Add stagger only after you can complete stints without overheating the right‑rear.
