Honda Civic Type R TCR Official Release

The Honda Civic Type R TCR joins iRacing’s front-wheel-drive touring car class.

The Honda Civic Type R TCR made its iRacing debut in the 2018 Season 3 build (June 2018). As the second TCR car to join the service, it expanded iRacing’s FIA TCR lineup and brought Honda’s global touring car program to sim racers worldwide.

Powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four producing roughly 340 horsepower, the Civic Type R TCR pairs its output with a 6-speed sequential gearbox and front-wheel drive, making it a direct competitor to the Audi RS 3 LMS TCR. Its combination of strong braking, balanced handling, and Honda reliability quickly made it a favorite among iRacing members.

The car has since become a staple in Touring Car Challenge events, where it is known for its mix of stability and speed. Its ability to handle both technical circuits and high-speed tracks has made it one of the most versatile and competitive options in iRacing’s touring car lineup.

With the addition of the Civic Type R TCR, iRacing further solidified its commitment to authentic touring car racing, offering sim racers the chance to experience the same door-to-door action seen in real-world FIA TCR series across the globe.
