The Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg joins iRacing on September 8, 2020, with the Season 4 build. This German circuit, located in Baden-Württemberg, is world-famous for its mix of high-speed straights, stadium atmosphere, and technical corners.
Originally built in 1932, Hockenheim evolved from a flat-out forest blast into a modern Formula One venue after significant redesigns in 2002. The iRacing version captures this modern iteration with multiple layouts, including the full Grand Prix circuit and several national and club variations.
What makes Hockenheim unique in iRacing
- Stadium section: Surrounded by grandstands, this arena-like portion provides a rare, enclosed racing feel.
- Variety of configs: Six main layouts (Grand Prix, National A & B, Outer, Short A & B) make it versatile.
- History: Once a high-speed forest track, now a modern F1-ready facility.
- Balance of speed and precision: Long straights meet tight hairpins and chicanes.
- Multi-series use: Works equally well for Formula cars, GT3s, and touring cars.
The Hockenheimring’s release broadens iRacing’s European footprint and gives sim racers one of Germany’s most important motorsport venues.
