Road America Corner‑by‑Corner Guide (iRacing)

This deep‑dive walks through all 14 corners at Road America with entry cues, gear suggestions, passing notes, and mistakes to avoid. Use it alongside your own telemetry to fine‑tune braking points.

Turn 1

Approach: Uphill front straight; brake just after the pit wall gap. Gear: 4th–5th in GT3. Line: Late apex to keep exit tidy. Notes: Running wide kills momentum to T3 and can invalidate laps.

Turn 3

Approach: Short burst; brake at the marshal post. Gear: 2nd–3rd. Goal: Prioritize exit onto Moraine Sweep. Overtaking: Rare—set up the pass for T5.

Turn 5

Approach: Long draft; heavy downhill braking. Gear: 2nd. Racecraft: Prime dive‑bomb zone—defend inside. Mistakes: Trail braking too deep rotates the rear; straight‑line the braking if under pressure.

Turn 6

Approach: Uphill and blind. Gear: 3rd. Technique: Brake earlier than you think; late apex to avoid mid‑corner push.

Turn 7

Approach: Fast kink‑like right. Gear: 4th. Notes: Commit early; small lift often faster than a big correction.

Turn 8

Approach: Short chute. Gear: 2nd–3rd. Exit: Open hands early to save the rears.

Carousel (Turns 9–10)

Approach: Long, constant‑radius right. Gear: 4th in GT3. Technique: Hold a steady throttle; patience preserves right‑side tires. Overtaking: Rare—focus on exit to set up the Kink.

The Kink (Turn 11)

Approach: High‑commitment right. Gear: 6th/flat in prototypes, small lift in GT3. Risk: Off‑track here ruins the car and the stint.

Canada Corner (Turn 12)

Approach: Hard downhill braking. Gear: 2nd–3rd. Racecraft: Second best passing zone. Mistakes: Rear lock if bias too far back; straighten the wheel before big brake hits.

Turn 13

Approach: Rhythm corner. Goal: Keep the car settled for T14—no heroics needed.

Turn 14

Approach: Critical exit onto the long front straight. Gear: 3rd. Technique: Early, patient throttle; any slide here costs time all the way to T1.
