2022 BMW Sim GT Cup; $40,000 Purse

iRacing announced yesterday that the BMW SIM GT Cup series is back in 2022. The series will feature ten events throughout 2022.

This year the events are even bigger with a series total prize purse of over $40,000.

These races will feature the BMW M4 GT3, running on Sundays at 13:00GMT (8am EST). Each race is 120 minutes in length and include a mandatory driver change.

Points

For the drivers who finish the race within the top ten positions in the top split (composition is defined by iRacing), the BMW SIM GT Cup points system will be applied. The BMW scoring system is independent from the scoring system of iRacing and the points for the BMW scoring are not awarded by iRacing.

In addition, one point will be awarded for driver with the fastest race lap, provided the driver finishes the race in the top 10. No points will be awarded if the race leader finishes two laps or less. Half points are awarded if the leader has completed more than two laps but less than 75 percent of the race distance. In all other cases, full points are awarded.

These events are team races with a minimum of 2 drivers required. The fair share driving rules will be used and Qualifying Scrutiny will be set at Strict.
