Mount Washington Auto Road – Official Release

Official Release article for Mount Washington Auto Road in iRacing.

The Mount Washington Auto Road was released in iRacing in August 2021, bringing one of the most unique and challenging pieces of tarmac in the world to the sim. Unlike traditional racing circuits, this is a hillclimb course that runs from the base of New Hampshire’s Mount Washington to its summit, with over 4,600 feet of elevation gain.

The release marked iRacing’s first true hillclimb venue. Famous for the Mount Washington Hillclimb / Climb to the Clouds event, the road is narrow, twisting, and unforgiving, with little room for error. Its arrival in iRacing provides drivers with an authentic experience of one of America’s oldest and most prestigious motorsport challenges.

What makes Mount Washington unique in iRacing

  • Full hillclimb course: Over 7.6 miles of narrow mountain road.
  • Massive elevation gain: 4,618 feet of climbing from start to summit.
  • Historic event: Site of the Climb to the Clouds, first held in 1904.
  • Changing surfaces: Mix of paved and gravel sections in the real road, faithfully recreated in the sim.
  • No run-off: Mistakes are punished instantly with steep drops or mountainside impacts.

The Mount Washington Auto Road is not just another track—it is a test of concentration, courage, and precision.
