The Bristol Motor Speedway (Dirt) configuration was released in iRacing in March 2021, just ahead of NASCAR’s real-world return to dirt at “The Last Great Colosseum.” This conversion of Bristol’s high-banked concrete half-mile into a dirt oval captured one of the most talked-about experiments in modern NASCAR history.
For iRacers, the addition of Bristol Dirt offered a unique opportunity to tackle the tight, high-speed half-mile in dirt cars ranging from Late Models and Sprint Cars to Trucks and Cup Cars. Its release immediately became a centerpiece of iRacing’s dirt oval racing, used for official events and special showcases.
What makes Bristol Dirt unique in iRacing
- Massive grandstands & atmosphere: The Colosseum feel is replicated inside the sim.
- Steep banking on dirt: Few dirt ovals in the world feature this much corner banking.
- Special events: NASCAR Dirt Truck and Cup Series races are mirrored in iRacing.
- High speeds: Sprint Cars and Late Models hit incredible lap times around the half-mile.
- Dynamic surface: The dirt surface evolves constantly, just as it does in real life.
The release of Bristol Dirt in iRacing provided sim racers a front-row seat to one of the boldest motorsport experiments in years.
