iRacing has revealed early plans for one of its most ambitious features to date: Career Mode. Long recognized for its unparalleled online racing, competition systems, and thriving community, iRacing is now aiming to expand its offering with a structured, authentic single-player experience.
The Vision
According to iRacing, the design of Career Mode will stay true to the authentic nature of both sim racing and real-world motorsport. The project is being led by a team with deep industry experience, including developers who have run racing teams at the highest levels of motorsport and an experienced sim and game design director.
The goal is to provide:
- Realistic progression systems that mirror a driver’s path through racing ladders.
- Deeper ways to engage with the product beyond traditional multiplayer competition.
- An authentic design approach that leverages both racing expertise and game design strength.
Why It Matters
Career Mode represents an opportunity to reach new audiences, provide fresh challenges for existing members, and give iRacers a way to experience progression outside of ranked online competition. It also sets the stage for integrating new systems into the sim, such as AI advancements and persistence features that could enhance the product in multiple areas.
What’s Next
No release window has been set, but iRacing has made clear that Career Mode is a priority project. With design resources stronger than ever, the company has committed to delivering a system that will add meaningful depth to the iRacing experience.
