Ferrari 296 GT3 iRacing Guide & Specs

Ferrari 296 GT3 Overview

The Ferrari 296 GT3 is one of iRacing’s newest GT3 entries (added in 2023) and represents Ferrari’s modern approach to GT racing. It replaces the 488 GT3 with a shorter wheelbase, new aero philosophy, and a compact twin‑turbo V6 that delivers huge pace with razor‑sharp responses.

Specs

  • Engine: 3.0L twin‑turbo V6
  • Power: ~600 hp
  • Layout: Mid‑engine, RWD
  • Transmission: 6‑speed sequential
  • Weight: ~1,250 kg (series dependent)

Handling & Difficulty

On turn‑in the 296 feels alive; the front bites quickly, but it will punish rushed inputs with snap oversteer. The car rewards smooth trail‑brake rotation and measured throttle on exit. ABS and TC help, but this Ferrari still leans advanced on the difficulty scale.

Real‑World Context

The 296 GT3 races in GT World Challenge, IMSA and WEC. Teams praise its balance and efficiency in long stints, which is mirrored in iRacing: it’s a tire‑sensitive car that flies when you keep it tidy.
