Dover is a single-layout oval in iRacing, but that doesn’t make it simple. The 1-mile concrete oval races like a hybrid between a short track and a superspeedway due to its steep banking.
Key Characteristics
- High Banking: 24° corners mean extreme cornering loads and speeds that feel closer to a larger track.
- Concrete Grip: Unlike asphalt tracks, the surface evolves differently with rubber buildup. Handling changes throughout the run.
- Narrow Groove: While a second lane can appear, most racing happens on the bottom. Passing is tough without momentum.
- Physical Racing: Cars and drivers are both under constant strain. Long runs test stamina and concentration.
Even with only one configuration, Dover offers one of the most intense racing experiences in iRacing.
