Ferrari 499P Gains New In-Car Hybrid Adjustments in Latest iRacing Patch

The Ferrari 499P hybrid adjustment has arrived in iRacing, introducing new in-car controls that let drivers fine-tune how the car’s hybrid system distributes power during high-speed cornering. This change gives 499P drivers greater flexibility to balance performance and handling after the latest patch.

The new “Hybrid Rear Drive Corner %” option, found in the garage menu, ranges from 70 % to 90 % in 5 % steps. It determines how much total power is sent to the rear wheels versus the hybrid-assisted front axle, providing a valuable setup tool for both sprint and endurance racers.

How the Ferrari 499P Hybrid System Works

The Ferrari 499P hybrid adjustment affects a system where the combustion engine powers the rear wheels while the electric motor deploys to the front wheels only once above a certain speed. Previously, iRacing handled this automatically—sometimes causing sudden balance shifts mid-corner.

Now, by setting a target percentage, drivers can control when and how that front-axle deployment engages.

  • Higher settings (≈ 90 %) keep more power at the rear, improving predictability.
  • Lower settings (≈ 70 %) add more front-wheel hybrid assist, which may induce understeer but stabilize entry and save fuel.

Closer to Real-World LMH Behavior

This update aligns the 499P more closely with FIA World Endurance Championship LMH regulations, which allow up to 200 kW of hybrid output on the front axle. iRacing’s earlier implementation limited Ferrari to roughly half that power. The new adjustment therefore narrows the performance gap between LMH and LMDh entries while staying true to real-world specs.

For comparison, see how iRacing balances other GTP machinery such as the Acura ARX-06 and BMW M Hybrid V8.

Community Response

Early feedback within the iRacing community has been largely positive. Many drivers describe the new option as a “clever tuning tool” that makes the Ferrari feel more consistent through fast corners. A few have noted that the wording—“rear drive” instead of “front assist”—can be confusing, but overall the change is seen as a step toward realism and better balance against LMDh competitors.

Why It Matters

The addition of the Ferrari 499P hybrid adjustment highlights iRacing’s ongoing effort to refine hybrid prototype behavior. It gives advanced users another layer of control, helping tailor the car for specific track types, temperatures, and stint strategies.

As iRacing continues evolving its endurance platform, expect future updates to expand similar hybrid management options across other LMH entries.
