Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya joins iRacing on April 8, 2015, during the 2015 Season 2 build. Located just outside of Barcelona in Montmeló, Spain, this modern Grand Prix circuit quickly becomes a must-own venue in the sim thanks to its role as the long-time home of the Formula One Spanish Grand Prix.
The initial release introduces iRacers to the Grand Prix layout, complete with its fast straights, technical final sector, and iconic corners like Turn 3 and Turn 9. Since then, additional configurations — including a rallycross layout — expand the track’s versatility.
What makes Barcelona unique in iRacing
- F1 heritage: The track is one of the most important stops on the Formula One calendar.
- Balance of sectors: High-speed sweepers in the first half, technical chicanes and hairpins in the last sector.
- Testing pedigree: Real-world teams use Barcelona extensively for car development.
- Multi-discipline versatility: Supports everything from F1 to GT3 to Rallycross in iRacing.
- Strategic racing: Tire wear, DRS zones, and overtaking points all matter for long-run success.
Barcelona’s release gives iRacers one of Europe’s premier modern circuits, instantly becoming a cornerstone track for open-wheel, GT, and endurance championships.
