The NASCAR SK Modified makes its debut in iRacing during the 2009 Season 3 build (September 2009). A staple of grassroots short track racing, the SK Modified brings a lighter and more approachable version of the Tour Modified to the sim.
Powered by a ~450hp V8 engine, the SK Modified retains the same open-wheeled chassis design as its Tour counterpart but delivers a more balanced and manageable driving experience. With less horsepower and slightly less aggressive setups, the car emphasizes tight, wheel-to-wheel racing where momentum and consistency matter more than raw power.
The SK Modified thrives on iRacing’s short ovals, where pack racing, crossover moves, and strategic throttle control create constant action. Its arrival expanded iRacing’s modified roster, giving drivers a stepping stone between entry-level oval cars and the more demanding NASCAR Tour Modifieds.
By replicating the real-world SK Modified division, iRacing provides sim racers with a car that captures the intensity of short track open-wheel racing while remaining accessible to a broad range of drivers.
