History of Lincoln Speedway

Lincoln Speedway is a half-mile dirt track located in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania. It is one of the oldest and most storied dirt tracks in the United States, having been in operation since 1954.

The track was founded by a group of local racing enthusiasts, including Gene Walter and Glenn Gohn, who saw the need for a local racing facility. They purchased a piece of land in Abbottstown and began building the track, which opened for its first race on May 30, 1954.

Over the years, Lincoln Speedway has played host to many of the top names in dirt track racing, including legends like Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, and Donny Schatz. The track has also hosted many prestigious events, including the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, the All Star Circuit of Champions, and the Pennsylvania Speedweek series.

Lincoln Speedway has undergone numerous renovations and improvements over the years, including the addition of a new grandstand and a state-of-the-art scoring and timing system. Today, it remains a popular destination for dirt track racing fans, with weekly races featuring a variety of classes, including sprint cars, late models, and stock cars.
