The Street Stock may look simple, but learning to drive it consistently is the first big test for iRacing oval racers.
Throttle & Brakes
- Throttle: Roll on slowly — over-aggression causes wheelspin.
- Brakes: Don’t stab at them. Smooth braking avoids upsetting the heavy chassis.
Cornering
- Slow In, Fast Out: Prioritize corner exits for better straight-line speed.
- Diamond the Corner: On tighter ovals, enter high, cut low mid-corner, and drift out on exit.
- Car Control: Expect sliding. Learn to catch small oversteer moments with quick but smooth corrections.
Racecraft
- Contact Racing: Street Stocks can take hits, but patience matters.
- Momentum Battles: Protect your line, especially on corner entry.
- Tire Management: Not as critical as in higher cars, but excessive sliding will cost pace.
Setup Basics
- Use Baseline: For beginners, iRacing’s baseline setups are enough.
- Adjust Brake Bias: Moving slightly rearward helps rotation.
- Higher Wing (if available): Increases stability for rookies.
