Oval (2.5 miles)
- Banking: 31° turns, 18° tri-oval, 2° backstretch
- Use Case: NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, Trucks, ARCA, IndyCar
- Racing Style: The oval is the centerpiece of superspeedway racing in iRacing. Drafting defines every lap, and races are often decided by strategy, lane discipline, and surviving “The Big One.” Pit strategy and drafting partners are essential to stay in contention.
Road Course (Sports Car & Endurance)
- Length: 3.56 miles (5.73 km)
- Layout: Incorporates much of the oval plus an infield road section and the famous bus stop chicane on the backstretch.
- Use Case: IMSA, endurance racing, Rolex 24 at Daytona
- Racing Style: Multi-class battles dominate, with prototypes, GT cars, and other sports cars sharing the circuit. The oval sections create huge slipstream opportunities, while the infield demands precision and rhythm. This is the track used for iRacing’s annual Rolex 24 special event.
NASCAR Road Course
- Length: ~3.61 miles (5.81 km)
- Introduced: 2020, after NASCAR held Cup and Xfinity races here for the first time.
- Layout Difference: Uses the same basic road course but includes a modified chicane on the frontstretch just before the start/finish line to slow cars into Turn 1.
- Racing Style: Primarily for stock cars, this layout mixes the high-speed oval sections with technical infield corners. Braking into the new chicane is a major passing zone but also a hotspot for incidents.
