The Cross Car brings one of the FIA’s most popular grassroots racing classes to iRacing. It is a lightweight, motorcycle-powered buggy that blends speed and simplicity. As a result, it offers the perfect introduction to dirt-road racing for new and experienced players alike.

Expanding Dirt Road Racing
With this release, iRacing expands its Dirt Road category once again.
Until now, entry-level racers have had to start in faster rallycross cars such as the Subaru WRX STI or Volkswagen Beetle Lite.
The new Cross Car changes that. It gives drivers a slower, more forgiving option that rewards smooth control and precision.
The car produces about 80 horsepower from its small motorcycle engine.
It also uses a sequential gearbox and a light chassis, which help it handle tight corners and quick direction changes.
Because of this, races should feature close pack racing and plenty of overtaking opportunities.
Meanwhile, iRacing plans to add official AI support and dedicated rookie series for the Cross Car. These additions will make Dirt Road progression smoother than ever.
FIA Partnership Grows
This project continues to strengthen iRacing’s growing partnership with the FIA.
The collaboration already includes the FIA Formula 4 car and global esports initiatives.
Now, the partnership extends into off-road racing—an area that keeps gaining popularity around the world.
According to the development team, the car uses iRacing’s newest dirt-surface and suspension physics. That means it reacts more naturally to ruts, bumps, and grip changes across each lap.
In addition, the Cross Car’s setup options are simple, letting racers focus more on driving and less on tuning.
The arrival of the iRacing FIA Cross Car completes the Dirt Road ladder.
It gives beginners a true starting point and builds a direct connection between virtual and real FIA programs.
For dirt fans, it adds a new style of racing with short heats and high action. For iRacing, it proves that the studio continues to blend authenticity with accessibility.
Overall, this release highlights iRacing’s commitment to growing every corner of motorsport—especially those that bring new racers into the sport.
