After years of rumors and silence, the iRacing Lucas Oil Off Road track is finally back in the spotlight. Returning to Wheatland

The real-world track in Wheatland, Missouri, sits inside the Lucas Oil Speedway complex and hosts major off-road truck and buggy events. It features a tight, jump-filled layout with long straights and massive banking through the final turn. In iRacing, the venue will appear under the Dirt Road discipline, joining tracks like Crandon and Wild Horse Pass.

Developers say the track has been “re-scanned and re-built from scratch” using the latest terrain and surface tools. As a result, it should deliver realistic ruts, dust, and jump physics that match the series seen on television.

A Comeback Story

The iRacing Lucas Oil Off Road project has a long history. It was first rumored back in 2023 and then faded from public discussion. Insiders later admitted that the track faced technical setbacks related to terrain modeling and lighting. Now, two years later, the team has revived it with modern tools and fresh artwork.

According to the August update, most of the layout is finished, and only final texturing and AI tuning remain. If development stays on schedule, the track will ship with the December 2025 Season 1 build alongside the Miami International Autodrome.

Community Reaction

Fans on the official forums call this “the best news of the year” for dirt racing in iRacing. Many say the return of Lucas Oil Off Road shows that the studio still cares deeply about off-road content. Others are already requesting that the track be used for a revived Pro Truck Championship series in 2026.

With its mix of big jumps, tight corners, and high banking, Wheatland’s track is expected to produce some of the most entertaining racing in the sim.

Dirt racing fans have been asking for a return to short-course action for years.
The arrival of iRacing Lucas Oil Off Road not only answers that call but also expands the Dirt Road category in a big way. It offers a true off-road experience that balances technical driving and aggressive competition.

For iRacing, this release marks another step toward building a complete motorsport library that spans from F1 circuits to dirt stadiums.
