Renault Clio R.S. V Cup Official Release

The Renault Clio R.S. V Cup joins iRacing as a grassroots touring car option.

The Renault Clio R.S. V Cup joined iRacing in the 2023 Season 2 build (March 7, 2023). Compact, lightweight, and front-wheel drive, the Clio brought a fresh flavor of entry-level touring car racing to the sim, complementing grassroots favorites like the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup.

Powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four engine producing around 180 horsepower, the Clio is paired with a 6-speed sequential gearbox and tips the scales at under 2,400 pounds. Its low weight and modest power output emphasize momentum driving, where smooth lines and consistent lap times matter more than outright speed.

The Clio thrives in drafting trains and pack racing, often producing races with constant position changes and nail-biting finishes. As one of the most approachable front-wheel-drive cars in iRacing, it serves as an ideal stepping stone for drivers looking to gain experience with FWD dynamics before moving up to faster TCR machinery.

With its release, iRacing added a new layer to its grassroots racing ecosystem. The Renault Clio R.S. V Cup offers sim racers an entry-level touring car experience that blends accessibility, excitement, and the kind of close racing that has made one-make Clio Cups a staple in real-world club racing across Europe.
