Barber Motorsports Park has been rebuilt from the ground up in the iRacing 2026 Season 2 update. The track now runs on new laser scan data with a complete visual overhaul. If you already own Barber, the rebuilt version replaces the old one on your account at no extra cost.
What the Rebuild Means
The old version of Barber in iRacing is gone. iRacing replaced it entirely with a new build, so this is not a patch. It is a full replacement.
The new build uses fresh laser scan data of the real-world circuit. Laser scan data determines how accurately the surface, camber, and elevation are modelled. Because of this, better data means the car behaves more like the real thing.
Drivers who know the old Barber will notice differences on track. Grip variation, surface feel under braking, and corner behavior all depend on how accurate the underlying scan is. As a result, some corners will feel different even if you know the layout.
In addition, the visual presentation has been fully refreshed. Track surfaces, barriers, run-off areas, and the surrounding environment were all updated as part of the overhaul.
Two Configurations Have Been Removed
The Short A and Short B layouts are gone. The rebuilt Barber includes the full 2.3-mile, 16-turn layout only.
Hosted sessions that were scheduled on the old version were cancelled when Season 2 went live. However, iRacing did not charge hosts for those cancellations.
AI Racing Is Now Enabled
The rebuilt version enables AI Racing at Barber for the first time. The old version did not support offline AI sessions, so this opens up a new option for solo practice.
If you use AI racing as part of your training routine, Barber is now available.
About Barber Motorsports Park in iRacing
Barber Motorsports Park sits outside Birmingham, Alabama. George Barber opened the circuit in 2003 on a former horse farm. The goal was to build a permanent world-class road course in the American South.
The full layout covers 2.3 miles, 16 turns, and 80 feet of elevation change. Real-world events at Barber include IndyCar’s Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama and regular IMSA rounds. Furthermore, the circuit rewards smooth, committed driving and a varied mix of corners.
The most recognizable feature is the giant steel spider sculpture at Turn 5. It sits in the infield and is visible from multiple points around the circuit. The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum on the grounds holds one of the largest motorcycle and vintage racing car collections in the world.
What This Means for iRacers
If you owned the previous version, your purchase carries over. No new purchase is needed.
On track, the new laser scan data is the most meaningful change. The circuit will feel different in places where the old version had inaccuracies. Because of this, braking zones and apex feel are worth relearning, even if you know the layout.
The Short A and Short B configs are gone for good. If any series or events you run used those layouts, they are no longer available.
For drivers who have not spent time at Barber Motorsports Park recently, the iRacing rebuild is a good reason to return. The full layout is one of the stronger road courses in the North American lineup. It is technically demanding, rewards patience, and punishes shortcuts. Therefore, the new scan data makes it worth treating as a fresh circuit.
