The iRacing Companion App 3.0 is live today on iOS and Android. It’s a meaningful release, not routine maintenance. The headline change is automatic data sync. Your favorites, friends, and social connections now stay in lockstep between the Companion App and the iRacing desktop UI.

Before 3.0, the Companion App and iRacing kept separate states. Cars, tracks, series, and leagues you favorited in one place stayed there. With this update, that changes. Favorites sync both directions automatically. Your friends list and followed drivers carry across too. Social actions (accepting or rejecting friend requests, following or unfollowing a driver) now work from either platform.
That sync changes how the app fits into a real iRacing session. Previously, keeping your data in sync required managing two separate lists manually. Now the two stay in lockstep without any extra work. iRacing described the design goal as making the Companion App feel like a true extension of the iRacing UI. That means shared data, not two separate lists that diverge the moment you update one.
Beyond sync, iRacing rebuilt the app’s core codebase in this release. The 3.0 update isn’t a visual refresh on top of the old architecture. Instead, it’s a ground-up rebuild. The modernized interface across multiple screens now aligns with iRacing’s current design standards. As a result, the app feels more consistent with the desktop UI.
Several screens across the app received meaningful updates. The Reminders screen now has a step-by-step guided flow. It offers clearer week and day selection and more flexible advance notice options. Series Details also got a significant update. It now shows full Weather V2 data for the selected week. The redesigned standings section surfaces your friends and followed drivers at the top. Additionally, the week selector defaults to the current date, so you land on the right week without hunting for it.
The Leagues section has a refreshed layout and an integrated reminder flow built in. The Results screen now has cleaner session navigation and improved racing data presentation. The News section also renders images better, with zoom and pan support. Filters expanded too. You now have more control across series, races, leagues, sessions, cars, and tracks.
Version 3.0 adds full multilingual support across eight languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese (both Portugal and Brazil variants), German, French, Italian, and Simplified Chinese. iRacing has a large international community, and this update covers the primary global language spread in a single release.
The legacy Companion App 2.x will be discontinued by the Season 1, 2027 build. iRacing hasn’t confirmed an exact cutoff date, but Season 1 2027 typically opens in December 2026. Because of this, you have months rather than indefinitely. The update is free and available right now on the Apple App Store and on Google Play.
To update, open the App Store or Google Play on your device and search for iRacing Companion. If automatic updates are enabled, you may already have version 3.0 installed. Open the app and check the version number in the settings screen to confirm.
If you’ve had the app installed and haven’t opened it recently, check for updates now. The 3.0 version reads your existing favorites and friends directly from the iRacing UI. There’s no manual setup required. However, the 2.x version won’t work indefinitely. The iRacing Companion App 3.0 is the version worth having before the sunset deadline arrives.
