The iRacing Tri-Nations Cup is back for its fifth year, and the entry point could not be more accessible. Pre-qualifying runs from August 21 at 10pm BST to August 23 at 10pm BST, using iRacing’s Time Attack format at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The car is the Ford Mustang GT3 on a fixed setup, which puts the lap time firmly in the driver’s hands. There is no entry fee and no sign-up process. Just load the session and run. The top 10 drivers from each nation advance to the main event.
The Time Attack format at Spa is a solid choice for a qualification stage. It removes the variables of traffic and incidents, and Spa’s long lap gives drivers plenty of room to find time through Eau Rouge-Raidillon and precision through the final sector. Whether you are a regular competitor or just curious about where you stack up nationally, three days is enough time to find your best lap.
The main event takes place on September 6, 2026. Practice opens at 9am BST, with qualifying at 9:20am BST. The format is two 30-minute races: one at Mount Panorama and one at Silverstone GP, with combined points from both races determining the top driver per nation. All competitors race in country liveries in the Ford Mustang GT3 on fixed setups.
The two-track format makes for a well-rounded test. Bathurst rewards smooth, flowing pace through the mountain section and commitment down the long straight, while Silverstone’s wide, high-speed layout favors aerodynamic efficiency and late braking into its faster turns. Different strengths will emerge across the two venues, which should keep the combined standings close.
The top driver from each nation wins a Next Level Racing HF8 Pro Haptic Gaming Pad, along with the distinction of representing their country in an officially sanctioned esports competition.
For pre-qualifying, the only requirement is that you are from the UK, Australia, or South Africa. No membership, no fee, no registration. Just run.
For the main event, UK competitors must be at least 16 years old, hold a UK passport, and carry a Motorsport UK Esports Membership (£27.99 per year). Australia and South Africa have equivalent requirements through their respective national federations. The membership requirement only applies to the September race. The iRacing Tri-Nations Cup has been running since 2022 and is organized with official backing from Motorsport UK, Motorsport Australia, and Motorsport South Africa. That level of institutional involvement is not common in sim racing. Most community cups run on goodwill and volunteer hours; this one runs with national federation infrastructure behind it. That gives it a different kind of weight, and it is part of why the format has held up for five consecutive years.
For the nations involved, it is also a meaningful competitive outlet. The UK, Australia, and South Africa all have substantial iRacing communities, and a properly structured national competition gives serious drivers something concrete to work toward.
