iRacing offers three configurations of the Red Bull Ring, each altering the racing dynamic:
Grand Prix (4.318 km / 10 turns)
- The full F1 layout.
- Mix of long straights and sharp braking zones.
- Best for open-wheel and high-level GT racing.
National (3.2 km approx.)
- Removes the second sector sweepers for a shorter, faster loop.
- Popular for touring cars and junior formulas.
- Increases lap counts and keeps action tightly packed.
North (2.4 km approx.)
- Focuses on the first half of the circuit, using Turns 1–5 before looping back.
- Ideal for sprint races and lower-powered cars.
- Extremely short lap times make it traffic-heavy in larger grids.
Core Track Characteristics
- Elevation: Subtle but critical; uphill braking zones punish late moves.
- Short lap time: Keeps the field compressed, amplifying overtakes and traffic.
- High-speed balance: Cars need strong braking stability and traction out of slow corners.
- Multi-class flexibility: Works equally well for F1, GT3, LMPs, and grassroots classes.
In iRacing, each configuration changes the rhythm of the Red Bull Ring, but all maintain the same essence: long straights, tight corners, and relentless wheel-to-wheel racing.
