The Dirt Sprint Cars in iRacing have received a major upgrade with the addition of the New Damage Model (NDM). This update, introduced in the 2023 Season 2 build, brings a new level of realism to one of dirt racing’s most popular classes, including the 360 Sprint Car.
With the NDM, wheel-to-wheel contact, wall impacts, and suspension damage are modeled in far greater detail. This means drivers will notice more authentic racecraft when battling in tight packs, as even light contact can alter handling or lead to visible part failures. Sprint Cars are known for their aggressive, elbows-out racing style, and the improved damage physics better capture the risks and consequences of pushing too hard.
The update enhances immersion for dirt oval racers, encouraging smarter driving lines and car control. Instead of leaning on walls or shrugging off contact, drivers must now balance aggression with precision to stay fast and finish strong.
This marks another step forward in iRacing’s continuing rollout of the New Damage Model across its car roster, bringing dirt racing closer than ever to its real-world counterpart.
