Slowing significantly on the back straight to bunch the field tight, then accelerating hard into the final corner, creates a compression effect that pushes the second and third rows into each other before the green even drops. A cleaner approach is to maintain steady pace throughout the final sector, hold the gap to the space ahead, and increase speed progressively as you approach the line. Drivers behind you are tracking your bumper, not the line itself, and smooth acceleration is far easier for the field to match than a sudden burst.
A second common problem is starting too early. Drivers who are anxious at the front tend to begin their acceleration run while the pace car is still visible or before the series convention expects the green flag zone. Jump Start Penalties
