Because the RSR is so well-balanced out of the box, your tuning focus should be on “stability through the stint.” In the GTE class, where you are often managing 60 to 90 minutes of tire wear, a car that is “easy to drive” will always beat a car that is “one-lap fast” but nervous. This guide covers the essential adjustments needed to settle the Weissach scalpel for any track on the calendar.

Managing the Aero Rake

In the Porsche 911 RSR Setup iRacing workflow, “rake” (the difference between front and rear ride height) is your most powerful aero tool. The RSR loves a “nose-down” attitude. By lowering the front ride height and slightly raising the rear, you force the front splitter to work harder, creating a vacuum effect that kills the car’s natural understeer. However, you must be careful; if the rear is too high, the car will become unstable under high-speed braking. Aim for a balance where your “Aero Balance” percentage is between 40% and 42% for most tracks.

Mechanical Grip and Tire Wear

Because the Porsche 911 RSR iRacing is mid-engined, it is much easier on its rear tires than the older 911 models. However, you still need to focus on rear suspension compliance. Softening the rear anti-roll bar can help the car find more mechanical grip on exit, preventing the tires from sliding and overheating over a long stint. Additionally, pay attention to your “toe” settings. Running a small amount of rear “toe-in” will help the car stay straight under heavy acceleration, which is vital when you’re trying to put the 510hp flat-six’s power down on a worn set of tires. Consistency is the goal.

  • Brake Bias: Typically runs best between 48% and 51%. Move it forward for stability; move it rearward for rotation.
  • Rear Wing: Highly efficient. Higher wing settings (6-9) provide massive stability in high-speed sweeps.
  • Low-Speed Dampers: Softening these can help the car absorb curbs better at technical tracks like Mid-Ohio.
